EU.POL : European Federation of Police Unions
ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT joins the new European federation of police unions
For several months, ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT has been negotiating with EU.POL, the new European federation of police unions, created in November 2020. Thus, on 14 January 2022, the integration of ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT into this European federation was decided.
ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT joins EU.POL, which is already strong with several tens of thousands of police officers and composed of 9 unions, including SLFP Police and VSOA Politie for Belgium, NPB and Equipe for the Netherlands, VSPB for Switzerland, SIAP and APG-GNR for Portugal, SPC for Spain and SNPGL for Luxembourg.
Today, France joins this federation through ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT whose will is to act beyond the national law in order to defend the interests of the French police officers at the level of the European commission and parliament.
The joining of ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT to EU.POL will allow to collectively carry these interests as well on the remuneration as on the improvement of the working conditions while allowing the exchanges on the difficulties of each country as regards security, to compare the situation of each one and to lead actions, debates and claims common to EUROPE.
Indeed, EU.POL, whose founding members come from the EUROCOP federation, is a federation which already benefits from the necessary parliamentary accreditations to act and intervene with the European authorities. ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT is now the 10th trade union to join this federation and the only police trade union to represent France within EU.POL
At a time when the labour law is more and more questioned in the member states of the European Union, the affiliation of ALTERNATIVE Police CFDT to EUPOL will allow to act more efficiently as it has already been the case in the past concerning the working time for which EUROPE condemned France for the non-application of the 11h of compulsory rest between two shifts.
